Artist's Comments
Exploding from the marsh, the colorful pair of wood ducks contrasts brightly against the clear blue sky, as they leap nervously skyward. Without a doubt, the North American Wood Duck (Aix sponsa) is considered the most colorful and beautifully marked of all waterfowl found on the North American continent. These birds in flight or resting are as pretty and colorful as it gets. The challenge to capture their color and movement is always an exciting one. To see them coming in to land or taking off is always a thrill and pleasure. I pray that they will always be around to flash their wings of color that has so excited and moved all of us who have witnessed these wonderful birds of grace and beauty.
